The Health Steering Group had 15 members, the majority of whom were residents. The group was responsible for recommending funding for projects of up to £100,000 and for the first stage of approval for projects over this amount. They also oversaw the monitoring and assessment of those projects which came under the fit and Healthy East Brighton theme. The group also looked at any further action that might be needed to make sure all the aims of the theme are covered. This included commissioning new projects where necessary.
